A family lamb farm in Newcastle
for three generations

The Bourke family of Kilmullen farm in Newcastle County Wicklow have been in the lamb business for three generations. Our lamb is ethically reared on our family farm where they are free to graze and where their diet and welfare are of the outmost importance. The lamb is clover and grass-fed, with the natural addition of the herbs, that can be found in the hedge-rows e.g. wild mint, wild garlic. They also can be seen eating the seasonal windfalls from the orchard and any remaining sweetcorn that was either damaged and not suitable for direct sale or just not quite ripe enough for market. We sell directly from the farm, online and through farmers markets because we get to meet and know our customers.

We get to know our customers changing requirements and their story. Click here to learn more about the markets we attend.

Experiences

It is also never really just about the lamb, it is the story behind it, it’s provenance, some like to collect their boxed lamb directly from the farm and meet us on home turf, they meet the sheepdogs and see the sheep across the fields, this is all part of their cooking journey and part of the experience.

We were delighted to welcome CIBC to our home

As the day drew to a close and the ambers cooled on the barbeque. There was a realization as we the farmer and chefs met that we are one and the same, the end goal is the same, to produce and cook beautiful fresh produce. The mutual respect was palpable. A day to remember. Mille Grazie, Bord Bia Dublin, and Milan. Margaret, Eamon and family.
